Hi, I’m Sulin. I'm a women's hormone naturopath with expertise in the management of natural fertility, premenstrual syndrome, polycystic ovarian syndrome, and perimenopause. I work with women from puberty to menopause, offering evidence-based naturopathic support.  It's my mission to be your trusted hormonal health guide here to help you understand and overcome your hormonal symptoms.

Many women think they just have to live with a hormonal imbalance, such as debilitating period pain, recurrent miscarriages, heavy bleeds, low thyroid function, and fatigue or infertility, but the right blend of nutrients and herbs can relieve symptoms and help you regain your balance naturally. Over nearly two decades in practice, and over a decade teaching naturopathy at university, I’ve found that a tailored, research-supported approach can be just the solution to stubborn, mysterious, and often distressing symptoms like acne, facial hair growth, weight gain, infertility, anxiety, the 34 or so perimenopausal symptoms, insomnia, fatigue, and mental fog.

After several years of personal exploration, my own health journey, women's groups, and meditation, tuning in to my body has become second nature. Herbal medicine and sound nutrition are just a phone call away. Feeling happy, well and nourished is your birthright. I believe that we are all deeply deserving of care.

If you’d like to book a consultation with me, use the button below to book. I look forward to meeting you and sharing the rich healing qualities of herbal medicine and good nutrition with you.

Thanks for tuning in!

Xo Sulin

1. Can naturopathy help with premenstrual syndrome?

Certainly! Were you aware that there are five distinct subsets of PMS? It can be a complex condition to address without the proper expertise, as each subset is indicative of a unique hormonal imbalance. Some are influenced more by stress, while others are predominantly driven by sex hormones. Therefore, our first step in your initial consultation will be to pinpoint which type or types you may be experiencing and then proceed to rebalance the pertinent hormones.

My approach to treating PMS encompasses various elements including dietary guidance, assistance with weight management, an evaluation of neurochemical factors, restoration of adrenal function, and targeted support for facial acne. In my clinical practice for PMS, I draw upon both evidence-based protocols and traditional wisdom to ensure a comprehensive and effective treatment plan.

2. Do you treat Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome?

Certainly, addressing PCOS is within my area of expertise. Naturopathy offers effective strategies to help you navigate and manage your PCOS symptoms while regaining control over your hormonal balance. My approaches to PCOS are personalized, taking into consideration your specific PCOS phenotype (as there are various presentation types) and your individual health requirements. I emphasize practical and attainable adjustments in both diet and lifestyle, complemented by evidence-based herbal treatments and supplements. These interventions are designed to potentially reduce androgens if necessary, support optimal insulin function, and facilitate weight management. While herbal supplements like Peony, Licorice, and Cinnamon are commonly employed, it's crucial to customize your treatment plan for maximal effectiveness and safety. Additionally, it's important to remember that implementing stress management techniques such as meditation, breathwork, nature walks, herbal teas, and yoga can be invaluable in mitigating stress, which has the potential to exacerbate PCOS symptoms.

3. How can naturopathy help my perimenopausal symptoms?

Naturopathy places a strong emphasis on incorporating dietary adjustments, herbal remedies, and lifestyle modifications to facilitate a smoother transition into menopause. The focus is on harmonizing hormones, reducing inflammation, enhancing mood, and alleviating discomfort. My protocols for managing perimenopause encompass dietary modifications, advocating for a balanced intake of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins. Additionally, I often recommend incorporating phytoestrogen-rich foods like soy and flaxseed, which mimic the effects of estrogen in the body. I incorporate herbal remedies such as Black Cohosh, Shatavari, Hops, Dong Quai, and Red Clover, which have a longstanding history of easing menopausal symptoms like hot flashes, mood swings, and sleep disturbances. It's essential to customize the dosages of these extracts to ensure both safety and effectiveness. Furthermore, I utilize functional testing to evaluate hormonal status, stress response, and metabolic health, particularly in cases involving weight gain. Stress management is a crucial component of treatment, as it can exacerbate perimenopausal symptoms. I integrate herbal solutions to assist in managing emotional fluctuations and achieving deeper sleep. My perimenopause treatments are highly tailored to your specific needs and symptoms, resulting in more targeted and effective symptom relief.

4. What sort of hormone testing do you do?

In order to comprehensively assess hormonal imbalances, I employ functional pathology testing to precisely identify which hormones are affected and to what extent. I offer a variety of tests including salivary hormone tests, dried urine tests (such as the DUTCH test), neurochemistry assessments, blood tests, the innovative MetaXplore gastrointestinal tests, as well as Hair and Tissue Mineral Analysis (HTMA). These results are thorough and serve to further enrich the already detailed consultation interview.

5. What does a naturopath do?

Naturopaths help to relieve the symptoms of many acute and chronic conditions as well as identify and treat the cause of many diseases. We follow a strict code of operation that safeguards the well being of our clients, and we use nature-derived medicines like herbs and nutritional supplements. In consultations we take a comprehensive case history to assess your current presentation, possible deficiencies and excesses, hormone imbalances, digestive function and more. We aim to both treat the presenting symptoms as well as identify potential future health issues by understanding your body and its physiology deeply. We also employ several pathology tests to assess the functional status of your organs and body systems. For women, the ability to regain normal cycles, modulate hormones, relieve perimenopause symptoms, improved sleep, bowel function, stress resilience, weight management, and better immunity and adrenal function are just some of the benefits of using naturopathy as a system of health support. Naturopathy supports people of all ages and medicines can be carefully selected to avoid interactions with medically prescribed medicines where required. I have post-graduate training in the management of naturopathic medicines for clients who are on prescription medications. If you'd like to know more about naturopathy, get in touch. Perhaps it's just the thing you've been looking for to turn your health around.
